Justice League International #3

Part three of "The Signal Masters" arrives with a cover by David Finch that captures the team at a harrowing low point — Batman stands atop a massive field of rubble, his cape spreading wide against a fractured, cavernous backdrop, while a Green Lantern and a female teammate look up at him from below, dwarfed by both the destruction and his imposing silhouette. The contrast between the two smaller figures and Batman's looming presence gives the scene a real sense of desperate stakes and uneasy leadership. Dan Jurgens, Aaron Lopresti, and Matt Ryan's New 52 take on the JLI continues to feel like one of 2012's most compelling team books.
