Charlton's long-running romance series delivers another tangle of the heart in this 1969 installment, with a cover that says it all: a young woman named Laura locks in a passionate kiss with a dark-haired man while a horrified onlooker in the background shouts at her to get away from him — and a caption declares "No Chance for Happiness." The drama practically leaps off the page, with Laura's closed eyes and the man's intent expression suggesting a connection that outside voices can't easily break. With Joe Gill's writing and Ray Burzon's lettering, Just Married #65 is a fine example of the emotional storytelling Charlton's romance line did so well.
