Jughead #175
From December 1969 comes this thoroughly charming installment of Archie's fan-favorite slacker — and the cover, penciled by Dan DeCarlo and inked by Rudy Lapick, says everything you need to know about Jughead's priorities. While his mom vacuums the living room and pleads with him to make just one sandwich, Jughead has already constructed an absurdly towering multi-layered masterpiece on the kitchen counter, cheerfully adding yet another sandwich to the top and declaring it a "Jughead Special." Up top, a smaller vignette shows a figure being yanked skyward by an enthusiastic dog — just another breezy comic moment that captures the lively, easygoing humor that made this series a staple of 1969 spinner racks.
