"The Pull Down from the Rear" follows Judo Joe as he encounters criminals and must evade police, with the story interrupted by instructional judo sequences demonstrating the titular technique. A second story involves a psychiatrist who uses hypnosis on a patient named Mr. Jones to put him into a deep sleep and control his mind, instructing him to obey suggestions; when Jones awakens and is dismissed, the psychiatrist and another man eagerly pursue him, revealing a sinister plot underway. Throughout, the comic includes detailed judo instruction panels showing proper form and technique.
Judo Joe takes on a deadly mystery when he investigates a series of men who mysteriously gain wealth only to waste away and die within two weeks—each terrified of something they won’t name. After tracking down a bank teller linked to the pattern, Joe uncovers a sinister plot involving a Russian scientist who uses a radioactive serum to blackmail victims into silence, threatening instant death if they try to escape or expose the truth. Now hunted and marked for death, Joe must outwit his shadowers and find a way to stop the experiment before time runs out.
When a burglar breaks into her home, Jo—determined not to wake her mother—uses her judo training to outwit him, turning his attack against him with quick, precise moves. Though momentarily dazed by a surprise counter, she stays calm and finishes the takedown, proving her skills are more than just practice.
In "The Hypnotist," Judo Joe teams up with Chief O'Reilly to unravel a mysterious death where a wealthy man leaves his fortune to his psychiatrist—despite cutting off his own family. When the suspect has a perfect alibi, Joe devises a risky plan to expose the psychiatrist’s use of hypnosis by having a doctor with a weak heart pretend to be a patient, then counteract the mind control during a second session.
