JSA: Classified #34
This 2008 DC spotlight on Hourman delivers one of the more unsettling covers in the JSA: Classified run, with a massive, cape-shrouded villain crouching menacingly atop a giant hourglass — its lower chamber filled with sand and a trapped, wide-eyed figure desperately reaching upward while blood drips from the villain's hands. Cover artist Freddie Williams II frames the tagline "Like Sands Through the Hourglass…" with grim wit, turning a familiar phrase into something genuinely foreboding. Writer James Peaty's "60 Minutes" promises a story where time itself feels like the enemy, and this cover makes that threat feel very immediate.
