From Joann Sfar comes this candid, self-deprecating journal published by Gallimard in 2013, its cover perfectly setting the tone: a disheveled figure crouched on the ground, barefoot in rumpled blue clothes, pressing what appears to be a dagger or stylus into the earth as sparks and smoke rise around him — equal parts frustrated and determined. It's a wonderfully honest image that promises the kind of raw, unfiltered personal reflection Sfar does so well.
