Set against a sun-warmed South Asian backdrop — a temple spire and lush greenery visible behind two figures — this sixteenth installment of Cosey's Jonathan series carries the evocative Dutch title "Zij die was" ("She Who Was"). The cover, fully rendered by Cosey, draws the eye to a young girl in a school uniform holding up her palm, on which a striking black eye symbol is painted, while an older boy stands thoughtfully in the background. Published by Le Lombard in 2013, it's a quietly compelling image that speaks to mystery and cultural depth in the way only Cosey's graceful linework can.
