Efter att Jonah lämnat in bröderna Carley i Painted Butte blir han och en prostituerad kvinna utkörda från staden. De blir tillfångatagna av Fort Charlotte-brigaden och förda till Fort Charlotte, så att de kan få hämnd på Jonah. Kvinnan utan namn låtsas vara Jonah och ger sig in i brigadens dödsbana och sprängs till slut till döds. Brigaden tror att Jonah är död och meddelar Turnbull detta.
