Jolly Jingles #11

This Fall 1943 MLJ Comics humor anthology puts Super Duck front and center — quite literally, as the caped waterfowl comes rocketing out of a cannon in a burst of smoke and sparks, "A-Z Vitamins" box in tow, with a colorful carnival tent scene unfolding behind him. It's a wonderfully absurd setup that captures the lighthearted, anything-goes spirit Jolly Jingles delivered to young readers at a dime a copy. Artist Red Holmdale brings a bouncy, kinetic energy to the cover that makes it hard not to smile.
