John Carter: The Gods of Mars #[nn]

This 2012 Marvel collection adapts Edgar Rice Burroughs' second Barsoom novel, following John Carter's return to Mars and his perilous journey to the forbidden Valley of Dor. The story pits Carter, Dejah Thoris, Tars Tarkas, and their allies—including his son Carthoris and the warrior Thuvia—against the cult of the Holy Therns and the monstrous plant men, as they uncover the dark secrets behind the Martian afterlife. Xodar, a former pirate of the First Born, also plays a key role in Carter's quest to challenge the gods of Mars themselves.
