This anthology issue contains two stories: the main story "Joe Yank Becomes a Model Soldier" follows Joe as he receives numerous fan letters from home, including romantic correspondence, which boosts his morale despite his lonely circumstances as a soldier. "Pinhead Perkins, P.F.C. in It Pays to Advertise" depicts a soldier stationed in Florida who attempts to find the bright side of his posting despite his misfortunes, including a mishap at base headquarters. The issue also features "McGurk Runs Wild in Operation Woo-Woo," in which McGurk becomes involved in military operations centered around a female character.
