The main story follows Joe Palooka, who receives a letter from an old friend named Steve requesting his help. Joe visits his home and learns that Steve has become ill; Joe agrees to help and is subsequently called to the White House by the President, who asks Joe to fight in a championship bout in Florida. A man named Knobby Walsh arrives at the police station claiming he has a crazy story to tell—he explains that he recently encountered a foreigner who attempted to run him down with a car, and that this same foreigner is planning to travel to Florida, where Joe will also be. The issue also includes a backup story titled "Chickie Ricks Better Known as the Flyin' Fool," which depicts adventure scenes involving Chickie and another character on horseback in a tropical setting.
