The Swedish edition of Jim Cutlass — titled Mannen från New Orleans — arrives with a cover that immediately establishes its Southern Gothic mood: a confident, red-haired man in a top hat and yellow cravat coolly inspects a revolver on what appears to be a wrought-iron balcony, a burning or smoke-filled scene unfolding in the ornate gazebo behind him. Christian Rossi's linework is richly detailed and atmospheric, balancing elegance and menace in equal measure. Published by Casablanca in 1992, this is Franco-Belgian Western storytelling at its most stylish.
