Jim Bowie must rescue soldiers from a Mexican general's camp while dealing with a gringo who has escaped and a band of outlaws pursuing him. The story involves Jim's quick combat skills and gunplay as he navigates military conflict and treachery in the Mexican territory. Additionally, a separate story titled "Pick and Shovel Brand" follows a young man named Carl Davis who saves a Native American boy from drowning in a dangerous stream, earning the gratitude of Chief Big Bear and setting off a chain of events involving mining operations and mysterious activity in Blanton City. Later, Jim Bowie and a companion become stranded during a storm and must defend themselves against a wolf attack while being pursued by enemies seeking Jim's gun and their prisoner.
