The twenty-seventh album in Dodier's long-running Belgian series finds the rumpled, trench-coated Jerome K. Jerome Bloks standing knee-deep in stacks and loose sheets of euro banknotes — his expression more puzzled than pleased, hands tentatively holding a wallet. "Namaak" is the Dutch word for counterfeit, and that mountain of suspicious cash sets a wonderfully intriguing scene for whatever trouble Jerome has stumbled into this time. Dodier's clean, expressive linework is as inviting as ever, making this 2019 Dupuis album a treat for longtime fans of the series.
