Hermann's long-running post-apocalyptic series reaches its 32nd volume with "De Chef," and the cover alone sets a tense, atmospheric mood. A steely-eyed Jeremiah clutches a revolver in the foreground while an enormous, monstrous creature — all claws and scaled menace — looms over him from behind, rendered in Hermann's characteristically painterly style. It's a striking 2013 entry in one of European comics' most enduring adventure series.
