But when the gipsy woman abruptly returns her money, eyes wide with fear, and refuses to speak the next prediction, Jane is left unsettled. As the strange forecasts begin to unfold, she starts to wonder if some secrets are better left unread. Art by Jordi Franch Cubells, this 1967 issue of Jackie captures a quiet, creeping unease in every panel.

Fortune tellers had always fascinated Jane so when the fair came she paid her five bob to get a peek of the future even though she didn't believe in that stuff. The first few predictions seemed like standard stuff, but then the gipsy woman appeared to be terrified. She gave Jane her money back and told her she would rather give the money back than tell her what she saw next. When the other predictions come to pass, Jane finds herself frightened about what the gipsy saw.
