Jack Staff #6
Paul Grist's "Britain's Greatest Hero" series takes a darkly atmospheric turn in this sixth Image issue, spotlighting Bramble & Son, Vampire Hunters — a grizzled, determined elder Bramble clutching wooden stakes in a cemetery at dusk, with a younger figure looming behind him amid bats and shadowed gravestones. The cover's notebook-style caption boxes speak volumes about a family tradition passed down through generations: "My father hunted vampires before me. My children will hunt vampires after I am gone." It's a wonderfully moody, character-driven package from Grist and colorist Phil Elliott that makes this corner of the Jack Staff universe feel richly lived-in.
