Jörg Buttgereits Captain Berlin #5

Jörg Buttgereit's German superhero Captain Berlin returns for his fifth issue, sending the yellow-and-red-caped champion straight into North Korean territory. The cover — pencilled and inked by Geier — is a delightfully pulpy tableau: Captain Berlin soars fist-first while a massive gorilla in USA-branded trunks clutches a screaming blonde, and a grinning, sunglasses-wearing North Korean official looms large in the foreground, all framed in bold carnival colors that feel like a love letter to Silver Age adventure comics. It's a wonderfully energetic package from the Weissblech Comics team, with writing from Buttgereit and Levin Kurio and colors by Kurio bringing the whole outrageous scene to life.
