It's Jeff #1
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeIt's Jeff #1 (March 2023) marks the first time Jeff the Land Shark's solo digital adventures reached the traditional print comic format, translating Marvel's inaugural breakout Infinity Comics character into a physical one-shot and proving that a Marvel Unlimited–exclusive, dialogue-free digital series could generate enough reader enthusiasm to warrant a print collection. The issue demonstrates an emerging pipeline from digital-first storytelling to print, a model the series went on to repeat with It's Jeff: The Jeff-Verse #1 later in 2023. Gurihiru's manga-influenced, nearly wordless visual comedy represented a genuine formal departure from mainstream superhero storytelling at Marvel, earning the digital source material an Eisner Award nomination for Best Digital Comic in 2022 and later an Eisner win for Best Humor Publication in 2024. Jeff's trajectory from this print debut through his 2024 arrival in the video game Marvel Rivals illustrates how a character launched in a niche subscription platform can, over time, achieve wide cultural reach.

Kelly Thompson introduced Jeff the Land Shark in West Coast Avengers (vol. 3) #6 (October 2018) as an unnamed background creature, with artist Stefano Caselli designing the land-shark species; Thompson then formally named and established Jeff as a character in issue #7 (January 2019), drawn by Daniele Di Nicuolo, where Gwen Poole adopts him. Thompson later collaborated with the Japanese artist duo Gurihiru—Chifuyu Sasaki and Naoko Kawano—to launch the dialogue-free digital Infinity Comics series It's Jeff! in September 2021, exclusively for Marvel Unlimited subscribers in a vertical-scrolling format. The 2023 print one-shot was edited by Sarah Brunstad with assistant editor Anita Okoye, and collected the first twelve installments of that digital series alongside brand-new print-exclusive material by Thompson and Gurihiru.
