Island #4
Image's oversized anthology Island continues with its fourth issue, and Gael Bertrand's cover sets a quietly mesmerizing tone: a massive, barnacled mechanical figure half-submerged in still, pale-green water, its chest housing a glowing globe-like sphere, while small boats carrying clusters of figures — including one armed with a mounted weapon — cluster around it like explorers circling something ancient and unknowable. The sense of scale and strange calm makes this one of the more visually distinctive covers of 2015. Inside, Roque Romero takes on full creative duties for "Chain Letter Part One," handling every aspect of the work solo.
