In Iron Man #196, a mysterious entity named Omnos takes control of the abandoned Iron Man armor left behind in another dimension, returning to Earth with a singular purpose. The Iron Man armor that was left behind in the dimension Rhodes had entered is possessed by an entity known as Omnos, who comes to Earth in search of its rightful owner. Meanwhile the dinosaur that had battled Iron Man enters Dr. Demonicus' underwater lair carrying the gray armor that Tony had worn. Demonicus decides to wear the armor himself to battle Iron Man and, while looking for him, engages the Omnos-possessed armor in battle. Tony arrives on the scene wearing a makeshift costume and is able to magnetize the suits of armor together. Omnos then returns to its dimension.
