“The Hard Way”

In "The Hard Way," Iron finds himself caught between loyalty and betrayal when Big Daddy sends him, Sweet Joey, and Lester to collect a million-dollar gambling debt from John Chase. Tensions flare when Joey attempts to double-cross the crew, leading to chaos and a violent ambush that leaves Iron wounded. Dr. Lubicus steps in to tend to the injured, but with Joey already spinning a false story back to Big Daddy, the fallout is just beginning. The issue's striking visuals—penciled and inked by Francis Manapul on the cover and interior—combine with bold colors and tight lettering to set a gritty, high-stakes tone.

Iron confronts Cardinal Kelvin and tells him that Big Daddy wants him to lay off the sermons against gambling. Big Daddy sends Iron, Sweet Joey and Lester to collect a million bucks in gambling debts from John Chase but Joey tries to kill everybody and make off with the money himself. Dr. Lubicus comes to the rescue and takes the wounded Iron and Angel into his care. To cover his devious plot, Joey goes back to Big Daddy and blames the slaughter and loss of income on Iron.
