Volume 5 of Ippo — Saison 5 : Dans l'Ombre du Champion, published by Kurokawa in 2017, puts Makunouchi Ippo front and center in full fighting spirit — his taped fist thrust toward the reader, eyes blazing with fierce determination as dynamic action erupts in the background. George Morikawa's series continues to capture the raw drive of a young boxer refusing to be overshadowed, and this volume's cover energy makes it hard not to root for him immediately. A great entry point into one of manga's most enduring boxing sagas.
