Invisible Republic #2
The second issue of Image's sci-fi series Invisible Republic arrives with a cover by Gabriel Hardman that packs real atmosphere into every inch — a determined, bespectacled bearded man dominates the foreground, fist clenched, while a long-haired woman looms behind him with an uneasy gaze, and a futuristic cityscape below is patrolled by hovering spacecraft. The magnifying-glass motif threading through the composition quietly suggests themes of investigation and hidden truths lurking beneath the surface of this dystopian world. With writing by Hardman and Corinna Bechko and colors by Jordan Boyd, this 2015 series already feels like one of Image's most visually distinctive genre offerings.
