Intermezzo #2

Tori Miki's deadpan slice-of-life sensibility is on full display in this third volume of Intermezzo, published by Éditions IMHO in 2007. The cover captures a quietly funny winter scene — a tall, wide-eyed adult stands somewhat helplessly amid a group of bundled-up children rolling a large snowball, while a stray umbrella drifts away in the background. Miki's clean, minimalist cartooning style gives the whole image a gentle, unhurried charm that makes this series such a pleasure to discover.
