The frozen grandeur of the Arctic frames a breathtaking cover by Paul Frichet, where massive black birds soar through a towering ice canyon while a lone human figure plummets helplessly below them — an image that promises both stunning wilderness and genuine peril. Stéphane Betbeder and Frichet bring their second chapter, "Frère de cœur, sœur de sang" (Brother of heart, sister of blood), to this 2013 Soleil release, and the contrast between those circling creatures and the falling figure sets a mood that's equal parts awe and dread. If the first volume drew you in, this middle chapter of the trilogy looks every bit as visually arresting.
