“Long Night”

The cover of Injustice 2 #20 makes the matchup unmistakably clear: the android titan Amazo looms enormous in the foreground, his skull-like face and glowing eyes bearing down as a reaching hand fills the frame, while a caped General Zod — red eyes blazing — hurtles upward through a cascade of shattered ice to meet him. Bruno Redondo's pencils and Juan Albarran's inks give the confrontation a tremendous sense of scale, with Zod looking almost defiant despite being dwarfed by his opponent. If the bold cover logo "AMAZO VS. ZOD!" didn't tip you off, Tom Taylor's "Long Night" chapter promises the kind of super-powered clash that the Injustice 2 series does so well.
