Inferno #1
Part of Marvel's 2015 Secret Wars publishing initiative, Inferno #1 opens with a cover that sets a striking, foreboding tone. Javier Garrón's artwork assembles a group of X-Men — including a red-haired woman in black armor commanding the foreground, Magik wielding her flaming soulsword above, a steel-skinned Colossus-like figure beneath them, and Nightcrawler and other mutants crowded into the chaos — all framed by swarming demons and a massive dragon coiling through a hellish backdrop. It's a dense, beautifully composed image that promises demonic stakes and mutant drama in equal measure.
