Conley, restless on the walled plantation, wanders beyond its gates and stumbles upon a hungry tiger—only to be saved by the mysterious Phantom, who promises to return and play. When Conley’s parents hear his tale, they dismiss it as a child’s imagination, but Mr Wright, skeptical, waits in vain the next day. As unseen forces plot to seize the estate, the Phantom reappears in the night to foil the scheme, revealing the truth behind the boy’s unlikely friend.
