☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis anthology issue contains three stories: "Long Bow," about a young warrior who must prove himself during the growing season by winning a horse race against rivals and facing challenges that test his worthiness; "Warriors of the West," depicting Black Hawk, a Sac warrior born in 1767 on the Rock River, who leads his people against white expansion and eventual forced removal from their lands, culminating in a treaty signed in 1804 that confines the tribe to the other side of the Mississippi River; and an educational text on the Five Civilized Tribes, focusing on the Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Seminole nations, their governmental structures, and the tragic Trail of Tears forced exile westward, with mention that Part II will appear in issue #17.
Lone Wolf, a Huron warrior sworn to avenge his slaughtered village, moves through the forest as a shadow against colonial conspiracy and tribal betrayal. When a white ranger named Walter Sutler plots to unite the Five Nations under his control by eliminating the Oneida sachem Red Robe, Lone Wolf must outmaneuver treachery on both sides to protect those caught in the crossfire. His cunning and the spirits' wisdom become Red Robe's only defense against a carefully laid trap.
