"Illustrated Chips" #9 is an anthology comic featuring three main stories: "The Merry Adventures of Weary Willie and Tired Tim," in which the two tramps stop at a farmhouse and become entangled in comic mishaps involving a farmer, his daughter Maggie, and a bag of money; "So Lonely," a complete mystery tale about a convict's child named Katie who is befriended by Lord Cecil Mansfield and becomes involved in a jewel theft and rescue plot at Penstone Junction; and "Chasing the Ghost," a thrilling mystery story featuring five champions—boxers and detectives—who investigate ghost-hunting reports and uncover a criminal scheme involving stolen jewels and a hidden cellar.
