Iceman #3

Issue three of Marvel's 2017 Iceman solo series finds Bobby Drake at a crossroads, the cover by Kevin Wada framing his civilian self looming over a framed family portrait — a smiling couple and a younger Bobby — while his towering ice form looms ghostlike in the background. Scattered around the composition are everyday personal effects: keys, coins, a flashlight, shoes, suggesting a life being examined and sorted through. Sina Grace and Alessandro Vitti's series continues to explore the tension between the man and the mutant, and Rachelle Rosenberg's warm, painterly colors give the whole image a quietly emotional weight.
