“I Cried at My Wedding”

In "I Cried at My Wedding," twins Peggy and Jane—identical in looks but worlds apart in spirit—take very different paths: one a charming manipulator, the other a quiet, compassionate soul. When Jane is injured and saved by Major Arthur Drake, Peggy, inspired by a sudden change of heart, decides to marry Paul, a war veteran she once scorned. Martin Thall’s poignant artwork brings this emotional wartime tale to life, capturing the quiet turning points that shape a life.

Identical in appearance, twins Peggy and Jane have different personalities: Peggy is outgoing but devious, while Jane is studious and kind. Peggy dates men and then cruelly dumps them but never lacks for new suitors. When Paul rejects her, Peggy tricks him into getting expelled from school. Her next target is military surgeon Major Arthur Drake, whose career she plans to ruin. When Jane, now an army nurse, is injured in a car wreck, Arthur saves her life and Peggy vows to change her ways. She marries Paul, who lost a leg in the war, and they have two children.
