A woman named Belle sings about being in love, prompting her mother to question what that means, revealing she met a man at a party in the Midwest the previous night. When her mother expresses concern that Belle is already in love with someone she just met, Belle insists he was charming and that she hasn't heard from him since. Later, Belle receives a phone call from Mark, but it's actually from a woman named Janice claiming to be Mark's girlfriend. In "Country Girl, City Slicker," a country woman named Jan reflects on her sheltered upbringing before meeting a smooth-talking man in the city who impresses her with his sophistication, though she suspects his intentions may not be entirely genuine.
