I Hate This Place #4

Issue four of I Hate This Place plunges deeper into the rural nightmare with a cover that says everything about the tone: a grinning, broad-shouldered man clutches a knife in a darkened forest while massive purple tentacles — coiling and labyrinthine — dominate the trees above him, and a stunned woman along with two other figures look on in the background. Artyom Topilin's art and Lee Loughridge's vivid, unsettling color work make those otherworldly tendrils feel genuinely menacing against the warm woodland glow. Kyle Starks's series continues to blend rural unease with cosmic horror, and this 2022 Image Comics chapter looks like it leans into both with considerable confidence.
