I Beat Things with My Face #1
In *I Beat Things with My Face #1*, written and drawn entirely by Dan Mendoza, a traumatized barista named Maggie Mince returns to her job at Marmalade Grindhouse with a detachable head and frostbitten limbs—only to uncover a mystery tied to a vanished coworker, Claire. With the help of a spectral guide named Fergus, Maggie tracks Claire down, transforms into a chain-wielding armored warrior, and confronts her in a brutal showdown that leads to a shocking journey into the Faerie Realm. The cover by Dan Mendoza captures the story’s eerie, surreal tone with a striking, hand-drawn image of Maggie’s head mid-swing.

Maggie Mince returns to her barista job at Marmalade Grindhouse after a traumatic attack that turned her limbs black from frostbite and left her with a detachable head. After work, Maggie -- with help from a spirit named Fergus -- searches for Claire, a co-worker who suspiciously quit shortly after Maggie's incident. When Maggie finds Claire, she merges with Fergus to attain an armored form, and beats Claire using her head on a chain as a weapon. Maggie transports Claire to the Faerie Realm, discovers she was working for Dwight Dumfrie of the Society of Noblemen, and then kills Claire.
