House of X #2

The second chapter of Jonathan Hickman's landmark six-part series arrives with a cover by Pepe Larraz that arranges a sprawling cast of mutant faces — Magneto stern and helmeted at the apex, a young woman in a white cap gazing outward at center, and a ring of wounded, unconscious figures radiating outward in a bold geometric star pattern — creating an almost ritualistic portrait of the mutant condition. Colorist Marte Gracia bathes the composition in vivid magentas and yellows that give the interlocking triangles an urgent, almost hypnotic energy. With a story titled "The Uncanny Life of Moira X," this 2019 issue promises to be one of the more ambitious pieces of the House of X puzzle.
