House of Mystery #112

From DC's long-running anthology series comes this July 1961 entry — "The Miniature Marauders" — featuring a cover by Bernard Baily that bristles with bizarre menace. A towering red insectoid creature dominates the scene, bearing down on fleeing soldiers, while above them a winged beast carries off a struggling figure — all seemingly under the command of the mysterious Professor Craven, as a speech bubble makes breathlessly clear. Bill Ely brings the interior to life under Arnold Drake's script, making this a fine example of the imaginative creature-feature storytelling that made House of Mystery a ten-cent thrill in 1961.
