In "The Mark of Guilt," Hopalong Cassidy discovers that a ranch hand named Torp has been wrongly accused of theft and imprisoned. When Torp is released, he writes Cassidy a letter confessing to a plot: he plans to rob a payroll shipment in the Twin River Hills to prove his innocence by recovering the stolen money and exposing the true culprit. Cassidy learns of the scheme and intervenes in a confrontation with outlaws, ultimately working to clear Torp's name and bring the real thieves to justice.
