In "The Rotted Saddles," Hopalong Cassidy seeks a new saddle at Stitch's shop in Twin River but discovers the saddle-maker has been replaced by a crook named Pierre who is part of a criminal scheme. After Cassidy and a deputy named Hyar are captured and nearly killed by the gang, they manage to escape and pursue the criminals into rough territory featuring geysers and natural hot springs. Cassidy ultimately defeats Pierre and his gang, recovering the stolen money and restoring order to the region.
