This December 1958 DC issue puts Hopalong Cassidy front and center in a pulse-quickening cover by Gil Kane and Joe Giella, showing the black-hatted cowboy gripping a rope with one hand while shielding a woman in an orange dress from what appears to be a flurry of flying arrows — rocky terrain and swirling water adding to the tension all around them. The featured story, "Track of the Invisible Indians!," promises exactly the kind of mystery-tinged Western adventure that made this series a treat for mid-century comics readers. At a dime a copy, this late-'50s Hopalong outing is a fine snapshot of DC's Western line firing on all cylinders.
