Hollywood Funny Folks #49

This 1952 DC humor title brings the laughs courtesy of Nutsy Squirrel, front and center in a barber shop gag that's hard to miss — a wide-eyed wolf character has apparently taken a chomp out of the candy-striped barber pole and exclaims "It tastes just like wood!!", while a startled rabbit in a plaid jacket looks on in disbelief. Rube Grossman's cover art delivers that warm, rubbery cartoon energy that made funny animal comics such a delight in the early fifties, and at a dime a copy, Hollywood Funny Folks #49 promised a good-natured chuckle on every page.
