Hollywood Funny Folks #46

A Pet Show is clearly no ordinary outing in this May 1952 DC humor gem, as the cover depicts a hapless rabbit character being dragged helplessly by an enormous, snarling dragon on a leash — much to the horror of the poor fellow peeking out from the "Enter Pets Here" doorway. Rube Grossman's cartooning is full of rubbery energy, with a rabbit and top-hatted character perched cheekily atop the bold title lettering above the chaos below. Hollywood Funny Folks #46 is a delightful snapshot of early-'50s funny-animal comics at their most gleefully unhinged.
