In "Der Wendepunkt," Betty finds herself caught in a dangerous web when her brother’s gambling debts force her to aid Doc Ock’s plan to free Blackie Gaxton from prison. As Spider-Man intervenes, the situation spirals into chaos, leaving tragedy in its wake when Blackie shoots Betty’s brother during the escape attempt. With Gaxton captured and the aftermath settling, Peter struggles to find the right words to comfort Betty as she faces the loss of her sibling.
