Hit Comics #127
In "Das Gemälde," an art dealer known for exploiting struggling artists schemes to steal a mysterious painting from a gypsy who refuses to sell it. After having the gypsy arrested on a false charge and breaking into his wagon, the dealer thinks he’s outsmarted everyone—until the gypsy is freed and tracks him down. When he arrives at the dealer’s apartment, he discovers the truth: the painting isn’t just valuable, it’s alive, and the dealer has become part of it.
In "Eigentlich war ich ein Mensch," a stranded space pilot faces a grim choice on a strange planet: consume the native fruit to survive, knowing it will transform him into one of the planet’s grotesque inhabitants. Though the change is irreversible, he begins to hear the hauntingly beautiful psychic echoes of the creatures—and finds himself drawn to their alien consciousness.
