Hickory #2
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThe issue contains at least two stories: "Peachy," in which a young woman plays tricks on her suitor by stuffing a dummy with cactus needles to make him appear sharper, then arranges a dance date to spread word of his improved appearance; and an untitled story featuring Hickory and Paw dealing with an oil robbery, where they learn that a hijacked oil truck full of stolen goods has been left on their land, and they attempt to sell the land to avoid being implicated in the crime, leading to a comedic bidding war over its ownership.
When Hickory discovers what he thinks is oil seeping from the ground near Bubble Hill, both he and the neighbor Mr. Posthole claim ownership of the land, sparking a bidding war that spirals out of control—until Lank Laramie brings word of a nearby oil truck robbery, sending the two into a panic. To escape suspicion, they hatch a scheme to sell the supposedly valuable property to an unsuspecting stranger, only to find themselves chasing down the deed when the real truth about their "black gold" comes to light.
