Xu Zhifeng's cover art for this 2018 Dark Dragon Books release sets a striking tone: a lone shinobi stands silhouetted against a glowing sun, holding two severed demon heads by their hair while katanas, shuriken, and a chain lie scattered in the raked sand at their feet. Writer Sylvain Runberg's De Schaduw van de Shinobis promises a world steeped in feudal shadow and supernatural menace. It's a beautifully composed image — equal parts eerie and compelling — that makes it very hard to put this one back on the shelf.
