The fourth chapter of Turf's Het Narrenschip arrives with a cover that stops you in your tracks: a massive, darkly rendered steam locomotive sits marooned in a flooded urban street, surrounded by half-submerged cars, toppled poles, and scattered debris, while a lone figure wearing a crown paddles a small wooden rowboat through the murky water below. The contrast between that enormous iron machine and the tiny, regally crowned rower gives the image a quietly surreal, almost fable-like quality that feels entirely at home in this series. Published by Daedalus in 2016, "Werk aan de winkel" promises the same richly detailed, imaginative world that makes Het Narrenschip such a distinctive presence in Dutch-language comics.
