The penultimate chapter of Tom King's nine-part series arrives with a cover by Mitch Gerads that is quietly devastating — three figures, including what appear to be Wonder Woman and The Flash in costume, sit and stand against a vast, sun-drenched field under a warm golden sky, while crumpled white-shrouded forms lie scattered in the foreground. The stillness of the scene, punctuated by a flock of birds drifting into the haze, gives the whole image a weight that superhero comics rarely attempt.
